I bought this for my daughter’s 2nd birthday. The box says ages 0+ so I figured it would be safe for her. However, be careful if you intend this for a child less than age 3. There are three bows on the doll that could present a choking hazard. One on the pink jacket and 2 on the shoes. Now, that said, I cut the bows off and gave it to my daughter and I’m satisfied with it’s safety and still think it’s adorable. This dolls clothing is all sewn to her body, so no worries about it coming off (except that the hood can be pushed off the doll’s head). If you remove the 3 bows, it’s still adorable and best of all, safe. My daughter will not let this doll out of her sight… she’s never much cared for any dolls before, even the animated ones, so I’m thrilled. I think the bright colors of the outfit really engage her. I’ve had Madame Alexander dolls all through my childhood and now my daughter can too. Very happy with this purchase, all things considered. Just be sure to remove the bows for children under age 3. I should also mention that this doll is not machine washable. The body is all nice sqishy cloth that can be spot cleaned, but the head is still a doll head, so no washing machine or dryer for this one. The eyes open and close when the doll is upright or laying down and also, there is a squeeker. If you push her tummy it has a squeeker in it (for example, just like a dog toy would). Hope my review helps you with your decision to purchase or not. I wish this info had all been available when I bought it. If so, I owuld have opted for a doll I did not have to alter to make safe. But, it still looks adorable, functions perfectly and my daughter adores it so I give it 5 stars anyway.
I gave this to a friend’s daughter for a gift. It is gorgeous. The only problem is that it in not really a “first doll” since it is for over 3 years of age.
I purchased Madame Alexander Windy Day for a Christmas gift. I actually purchased two of them for my grandaughters, age 6 months and 8 months. These dolls are perfect for little baby girls. The dolls are light weight and easy for them to be picked up with little hands. The dolls are soft, as well as colorful. My baby grandaughters loved them instantly!
